Set Drafts

A set draft is where each participant brings one of the same LEGO set to the session. First, we sort all the parts into piles by piece type and color. Then we draw numbers to determine draft order.

During the draft, we choose in a serpentine order. For example, with 5 participants, the order goes: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 — and continues in this back-and-forth pattern until all piles are claimed.

Set drafts are a great way to get multiples of specific parts for building MOCs. They’re also a lot of fun and offer a great chance to socialize.

What Should I Do?

Just bring a new copy of the designated set to the scheduled draft (typically during a monthly meeting). You'll help sort parts with other participants and then enjoy the drafting process. It’s a relaxed, social activity.
